FAQ:

HOW DOES LOGSIDE COMPARE IN COST TO OTHER SIDINGS?

Because LOGSIDE requires only nails to apply and is its own natural insulator, it does not need additional expensive insulation and "hanging accessories" like vinyl or other types of siding do. Therefore, total cost between different alternatives is very comparable. The main difference lies in the finished look, and in this area, there is no comparison.

HOW DOES LOGSIDE COMPARE WITH OTHER SIDINGS WITH REGARD TO INSULATIVE PROPERTIES?

Wood is one of the best natural insulators known to man, with an *R-value of up to 2.5 per inch of thickness and square foot of surface area. In comparison, vinyl or aluminum siding by itself has an *R-value of only 0.0007 per inch of thickness and square foot surface area, making LOGSIDE over 1000 times more effective as a natural insulator. Also, because LOGSIDE is applied to a conventional frame already having the standard insulation requirements (R-11-R-19), adding LOGSIDE results in a super-insulated wall far above "normal" standards. In fact, we can provide up to an R-50 wall using our split-log-siding option, which is up to three times thicker than the standard 2" LOGSIDE for even more insulative value.
